The Electro 2021 Exhibition demonstrated strengths and weaknesses of the Russian electrotechnical industry

.

The event took place in Moscow Central Exhibition Complex on June 7-10. During the four days of the Exhibition 10 250 people visited the event. Over 150 companies from 13 countries presented their capabilities and products. R&P POLYPLASTIC, one of the leading Russian compounders also took part in the event with an aim to explore the national electrotechnical industry and main trends of development.

“Our company is rapidly developing the electrotechnical area of work creating compounds for production of polymer body frames and dielectric elements for mounting fixture. For future successful growth, it is important to understand basic customer needs and peculiarities of the market, applicability of our materials. We need to be able to make adjustments into our projects”, says Pavel Kruglov, Director General of Trade House “Polyplastic”.

Within the event, specialists of R&P POLYPLASTIC and Trade House “Polyplastic” held a number of meetings, which helped to assess directions for the development and point out vulnerabilities.

Today the Russian electrotechnical industry is primarily based on hardware components from China, Turkey and European countries. Most often they are purchased together with polymer materials and items. Localization processes actively developing in the auto industry and production of household appliances are in their infancy concerning the electrotechnical industry. That is the reason for low volumes of shipments of polymer materials. Those producers who nevertheless started localization and have the necessary equipment for production of polymer items for the electric industry come across several problems including import dependency and price volatility as well as “shocking therapy” connected with a steep rise in costs of polymer raw materials in Q1 2021.

“Nonetheless, Russian compounders have potential for development of electrotechnical industry. Slowly but steadily producers are recognizing the importance of self-sufficiency and independence from supplies from China and Turkey. Participation is such specialized exhibitions like Electro-2021 helps to better understand not only the current market demands but also review our future plans”,  - summed up Pavel Kruglov, Trade House “Polyplastic”.
