.

Leading Russian compounder updated its sustainability objectives. In addition to encouraging the company’s partners in their struggle against carbon footprint the company announced its willingness to support a project on polymer waste recycling as well as expanding the pool of suppliers of recycling materials.

“Recycling issues are becoming increasingly relevant for the society. People are coming to recognize that it is important to raise the volume of recycled plastic waste as well as the amount of products made from post-consumer plastics. As a socially responsible company R&P POLYPLASTIC stands ready to take part in recycling projects and channel its technological and material resources as well as the capabilities of its R&D Center towards solving this problem”, said Aleksandr Pavlov, Director General of R&P POLYPLASTIC.

Enlarging the pool of suppliers of recycled materials is another challenge R&P POLYPLASTIC is trying to solve within its environmental program. The company is already purchasing recycled homo-, block-, random- and copolymers of PP, PA6, PA6,6, PBT, PC and ABS from a number of suppliers and plans to expand their amount.

“Being the leader of Russian polymer industry we cannot just declare the importance of protecting the environment and recycling issues. We have to become a standard-bearer in this process. Environmental liability of business are not mere words for us. We take specific steps and implement programs for waste recycling, resource reduction and purchase of energy efficient equipment. In 2020, we recycled over 450 tons of packaging and reduced water consumption by 0.4%. Over the last two years energy consumption reduced by 3.5% per ton of manufactures goods”, noted Aleksandr Pavlov.
