Production of polymer automotive components in Russia has been localized for almost 50%

.

At the year of its 30th Anniversary Research and Production Enterprise “POLYPLASTIC”, top Russian producer of polymer compounding materials, summarized the results of longstanding work on creating a range of materials for the automobile industry.

Today, almost every vehicle produced in Russia has components produced from domestic polymer compounding materials. “Russian raw materials are used for manufacturing vehicle models of Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ, Volkswagen, Skoda, Peugeot-Citroen, Hyundai, KIA, GAZ, UAZ and KAMAZ. We estimate that in the nearest future the total amount of localized compounds will reach 50%, while almost 70% of the total amount in Russia are brands of R&P POLYPLASTIC”, says Ekaterina Smirnova, Deputy Director of Sales of Trade House “Polyplastic”.

Research and Production Enterprise “POLYPLASTIC” started to develop compounds for production of vehicle components 2 years after the company’s foundation, in 1993. Materials under trade names Armlen and Armamid were actively implemented at Russian automanufacturers GAZ, AvtoVAZ and KAMAZ as well as their component suppliers. After foreign automotive brands entered the Russian market our company started work on creating local compounds for these enterprises.

To this day Russian manufacturers of raw materials for automotive components produce industrial scale volumes for these brands. R&P POLYPLASTIC manufactures materials for bumper components and underhood space of new Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid, moreover the company is a strategic partner of Peugeot-Citroen in Russia. Materials of the Russian compounder are also nominated for new projects of the Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ Alliance. In 2020, R&P POLYPLASTIC has been homologated and started supplies of materials for production of large exterior parts for Hyundai models.

One of the main achievements in the area of creating polymer compounding materials for the auto industry is the development of the first Russian nanocompound – materials based on polyamide 6 with carbon nanomaterials are used for production of exterior parts of the latest GAZelle NN. This brand has high physical-mechanical properties and constant level of 106–108 Ω∙cm allowing to paint the whole car body in line.
