2 million tons in 30 years – R&P POLYPLASTIC is celebrating its Anniversary

.

“Each vehicle, each washing machine and refrigerator produced in Russia has a piece of our work”, proudly say workers of R&P POLYPLASTIC. And they are not exaggerating. Annually the enterprise is shipping thousands of tons to automobile manufacturers, producers of “white goods” and civil construction materials. Within 30 years a small startup from the basement of Moscow Polytechnic Secondary School developed into one of TOP-10 European compounders.

Currently R&P POLYPLASTIC produces over 250 brands of polymer compounds providing for localization of plastic materials in various industries including automaking, production of household appliances, electrical goods, cables and civil construction materials. The company supplies materials used for manufacturing of plastic components of leading international carmakers: AvtoVAZ, UAZ, GAZ, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Skoda, Kia and others. Global producers of “white” household appliances such as Indesit, B/S/H/, LG, Beco are also partners of the Russian compounder.

“Vital contribution of R&P POLYPLASTIC into the development of Russian polymer industry is import substitution. Our company does not buy and adapt foreign technologies but creates its own unique recipes using local raw materials, which in some cases are even superior to their foreign counterparts”, noted Mikhail Katsevman, Head of R&D of R&P POLYPLASTIC.

The company indeed managed to succeed in becoming one of the outposts of the Russian chemical science in the area of plastics compounding. Scientists from R&P POLYPLASTIC were the first ones to create an electro dispersive compound Armamid PA6 GF 15-1-ETM-AS based on polyamide 6 with carbon nanomaterials. This high-technology material has all necessary physical-mechanical properties and components made from it can be painted on electrophoresis lines. These days this nanocompound is ready for serial production of new Gazelle NN splashers.

R&P POLYPLASTIC is well aware of main international trends focusing on environmental protection. Scientists of R&P POLYPLASTIC R&D Center are currently working on a range of biocompostable materials under brand name Armlen TPK. This compound will be in full conformity with core indicators of ISO 17088 and 18606 and leave a minimum carbon footprint after decomposing.

“As an industry leader we should be always looking into future. However, we must not forget to learn the lessons of the past. That is why on our Anniversary we are not just summing up the results but also building plans. Demand for high-quality compounds is constantly rising and we intend to increase our production capacity and brand assortment”, says Aleksandr Pavlov, Director General of R&P POLYPLASTIC.

This year the company is creating 30 high-tech working spaces and launching 2 state-of-the-art compounding lines having no parallel in Russia. Total investments into this project amount to 3.3 million Euro.  After reaching its estimated capacity in 2022 these lines will produce up to 20 thousand tons per year in addition to existing production capacity. Moreover, in 2023 we are planning to start construction of a new production plant in the Volga region Special Economic Zone.

Managing Partner of R&P POLYPLASTIC Andrey Menshov commented, “30 years is of course a striking landmark. However, I am sure this is only the beginning for R&P POLYPLASTIC on its path of research, inventions, new technologies and fulfilling the company’s scientific and commercial potential. We have a 5-year strategic development plan. We still have enough to strive for. Our main goal for the near future is to pass a milestone of 100 thousand tons of annual production and increase the export share of all shipments to 25 %. From my point of view these objectives can be achieved”.
