Undergraduate technologists and laboratory assistants from Togliatti Chemical Engineering College undertook internship at R&P POLYPLASTIC

.

Process technicians and operating control laboratory assistants spent two months learning the ropes of polymer production at extruders, warehouses and laboratory equipment. The experience was useful and informative for both students and the inviting company.

Operating control laboratory assistants learned to check the conformity of produced materials with the specifications in real time mode. As is well known the rate and accuracy of these measurements influence volumes of production and final product quality. Any mistake made by an operating control laboratory assistant may lead to output of nonconforming products, which will be discarded.

Trainee technologists during their work at R&P POLYPLASTIC learned to control production processes, make permitted adjustments and correctly asses their impact after receiving data from the operating control laboratory where often their fellow students would be working. Apart from that, they had to perform routine operations such as identification of materials, counting quantities at warehouses and undersigning bags with pouring.

“During their internship students worked under supervision of experienced tutors. In several weeks they were already able to perform many working functions independently. However, manufacturing processes at R&P POLYPLASTIC are organized in such a way that the controlling and decision functions can only be performed by permanent workers with certain credentials. This is driven by the highest quality requirements”, says Dmitrii Urasov, Head of R&P POLYPLASTIC production plant in Togliatti.

Dmitrii Urasov added that for the company cooperation with Togliatti Chemical Engineering College is not just a contribution to educating highly sought professionals. R&P POLYPLASTIC is ready to offer jobs for prospective young specialists. Tutors especially underscored the progress made by Ekaterina Michailichenko and Kristina Vdovina.

“We had real practice and a perfect experience. On day one we had a detailed tour of the production site. Everything was new for us: starting from the necessity to always ware personal protective equipment and ending with state of the art production machinery. After internship I almost fell in love with plastics, everything was so interesting. I would like to return to R&P POLYPLASTIC as a highly qualified specialist with education in the field of polymer materials”, says Ekaterina Michailichenko.

The internship of students from Togliatti Chemical Engineering College has finished. Now it is the turn of Togliatti Mechanical Engineering College: future instrumentation fitters are already mastering their skills at our production plant. They are learning to carry out minor repairs and trying to handle practical tasks on improving industrial machinery in the Department of Chief Engineering Officer.

It is worth reminding that cooperation with educational facilities is part of the R&P POLYPLASTIC Corporate Social Responsibility program, which is being implemented since 2020. Our policy includes fullest and effective intercommunion with regional stakeholders. Especially with those making a substantial contribution to human resource development.
