Research and Production Enterprise “POLYPLASTIC” warns of serious risks of price increase on main raw materials in August

.

Q2 2020, which was largely influenced by restrictive measures due to spread of COVID-19, passed under the sigh of a certain price decrease on main raw materials including polypropylene. This trend was particularly noticeable in European countries and China.

However, in August polypropylene prices in Russia may not only recover losses but return to further growth. This is connected first of all with recovery of customer demand, volatility of the Ruble exchange rate, rising oil prices and simultaneous shutdown of several plants in September. According to the Plastinfo.ru review “Base polymers price survey”, market participants expect a 5% price increase on polypropylene, which will be comparable with the January level of 94 – 97 thousand Rubles per ton.

R&P POLYPLASTIC is concerned with the situation on the commodity market and calls up for responsible pricing policy for the benefit of development of the whole industry.
