R&P POLYPLASTIC supports responsible consumption and Ministry of Natural Resources efforts against plastic waste

Recently, global attention to nature protection and the fight against plastic waste, which inflicts irreparable damage on the environment, has increased dramatically. This trend affected Russia as well. Moreover, the issue of ecological security for our country where such unique objects as Baikal Lake and Curonian Spit are located is essential.  

Research and Production Enterprise “POLYPLASTIC” being the leader of plastic procession has always supported responsible consumption and efforts of Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation in developing measures for minimizing the quantity of plastic waste in Russia.

It is no secret that the main source of environmental pollution with plastic waste is disposable packaging and cutlery. According to a Greenpeace Russia study up to 87% of trash on the shores of Baikal contained of plastic ware.

However, complete rejection of using polymer packaging will hardly solve the problem because this will endanger food safety of the world.  This is one of the reasons why R&P POLYPLASTIC R&D Center for several years has been developing innovative biodegradable and compostable materials. Wide application of these materials will allow to maintain balance between the necessity of using polymer packaging for storing food products and environmental safety. Decomposition of such products takes only 6 months.

Within the coming weeks R&P POLYPLASTIC will submit its proposals on combating plastic waste to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
